Hey everybody! I wanted to let you all know what I have been up to today. Today I am doing little random acts of kindness....and honesty I am really excited about it. This morning before I made my way into work I decided to go by my favorite drive-thru and order my usual a big sweet tea with lemon and a sausage biscuit....however I thought to myself why not pay for the person's breakfast behind me as well....give them a little encouragement for the day! So I did....boy o' boy would I have loved to seen the look on that persons face when they started to hand the cashier their money only to hear the words "It's free today!" I mean really how awesome would that be? Then I got to work and decided to keep the mojo going so what did I do.... I called in an order of flowers to be delivered to my mom at work with a note attached that read "Hope you have a great day...I love you! Wow....to get flowers for no reason!!! Then before I knew it, it was time for lunch and while I was out I picked up a whole box of cupcakes for my co-workers. Who doesn't love cupcakes!!! I just wanted them to know that I appreciate them! I also decided to take a trip to a local gas station here in town,(a place where you have to pay the cashier...no paying at the pump) I told the cashier that the next person who came in needing $10.00 in gas to go ahead and fill it up it was already paid for.

The best thing about today was that every time I gave....I felt like I was the one receiving!

A How To for Theresa!

I had a comment on my last post from Theresa who wanted to know how I painted the lids for my jars.

Well Theresa, here you go...
First I sanded both lids and the knobs with some sandpaper http://woodzone.com/Merchant2/articles/sandpaper/index.htm (sandpaper guide) to help the paint stick to the surface (I used 150 grit). I then painted the lids by using white craft paint by Apple Barrel. I did two coats...using a hairdryer (to speed up the process...but I think the HOT heat from the hairdryer gave the paint a crackle affect...? Then I took 220 grit sandpaper to the edges and knobs until the wood started to show through. After sanding, I took a sponge brush and applied a coat of Minwax stain in dark walnut. http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/stains-color-guide/ (color of stains) Then I took a clean cloth and quickly wiped the stain away...this enhances the color of the wood but makes the paint look old. I then sprayed a clear coat of polyurethane in a satin finish (can be found at Wal-mart in the paint dept.) just to seal the deal!

Wow...can you believe this? I got all this for ~~$28.57~~ $10.12 !

9) Large rolls of toilet paper (however this I was a little upset with...I know it's crazy but I could have got a 12 large roll but...I couldn't find it anywhere...until I seen A GREAT BIG display as I was exiting the building!!! If it had been a snake...it would have bitten me!!!

But I was still happy with my GREAT DEAL!

I had 6 Q-pons for my soap 3) were $.25 off

3) were $.50 off the soap was $.99 with value card $.99 x's 6 = $5.94 - ($2.25 in Q-pon savings) = $3.67

A Tutorial on the candy bar cake and the flower pot arrangement!

Donna A.K.A One simple girl had asked me if I would do a tutorial on the candy bar cakes....so Donna are you ready? Here we go...

Materials/Supplies:
-your favorite candy bars (regular size, fun size)
-paper mache box/boxes (round or square) or a flower pot (I found my planter at Wal-mart in the garden section for $2.00) The container could also be a gift put something inside the box/es or use the gift it self and wrap the box
-hot glue gun
-scotch tape
-duct tape
-wrapping paper for covering your base (optional)
-shredded paper (any color...I used 1 bag for each project)
-rubber bands (helps if you have assorted sizes)
-ribbon ( I used 2 different kinds, I like wire ribbon for the main one and one w/out for layering)
-scissors
-styrofoam or flower foam (this will go in side of your container)
-a knife for shaping foam (if needed)
-skewers (if you do a flower pot look green spray paint or crafter's paint/brush)
-a piece of cardboard > This needs to be bigger then your container/sturdy (I went to my local pizza place and asked them for a unfolded large pizza box)
-2 decorative curly-Q ribbons (for each project)

1 step: BASE

Take your cardboard and wrap it with wrapping paper (you will want to have a pretty base.

Here is my cardboard wrapped in blue wrapping paper

It's your base be creative...there is no wrong way

Here I didn't wrap my cardboard but hot glued shredded paper to it to make it look like grass.

2nd step: CONTAINER

I used paper mache box/es and a flower pot

I didn't wrap my paper mache boxes, I liked the solid brown color...but it's your choice.

If you decide to use the main box as a actual gift, you will need another box (empty) to do a second layer. The 2nd box is needed so you can stick your candy skewers on top.

Set your container on your finished base.

Put the floral foam or styrofoam in the container that you will put the skewers in . NOTE: You will want the foam level with the top of your container.

Next you will need a big rubber band to go around your base this is what will hold your candy bars in place.

RUBBER BAND NOT BIG ENOUGH don't panic

you can loop your rubber bands together to make one big rubber band like this...

Now that you have a rope looking rubber band and you have reached the desired length you need. The next step is to tie the two ends together so you can put it around your container(Making the one big band).
NOTE: your candy goes in behind your rubber band so make sure your band is not to tight around your container

I tied the two ends of my (rope) rubber band together, by taking another rubber band and placing it through the two ends and making another loop...giving you tail(not important just hide it).

Now that you have one big band and it's securely around your container It's time to start placing the candy bars behind the rubber band. (so the candy bars are behind the rubber band but in front of your container (so that they are sandwich in between)).

The ribbon then goes around your candy bars hiding your rubber band. NOTE: cut your ribbon a little longer.
If you layer your ribbon hot glue them together before putting it around your container

I used duct tape to secure the ribbon to the band (duct tape is strong and you don't need a lot of it either)

Then hot glue the excess ribbon to the ribbon. For a more finished look you could hot glue a button or a bow to the ribbon (I didn't have a button...to bad because I got a little carried away with the hot glue)

If you are doing 2 boxes follow the same instructions

Just remember to leave the lid off the top box so you can put your candy skewers in it.

Also when you stack your 2nd box to the 1st box you may want to secure the two of them together, if so use a few pieces of rolled up duct tape!

You will then do your top layer of your box like the top part of the flower pot arrangement...

If you are doing a flower pot arrangement you might want your skewers green to give them a stem like feel...so I painted mine with a green crafter's paint, but spray paint would work just fine too!

(I did not paint my skewers in the box arrangement)

I then did another layer of shredded paper on top of the floral foam. I did hot glue this as well.

Next you will want to start sticking your candy bars to the skewers with duct tape (again the tape is really strong, so it will hold well and you want need a lot it) you can use mini candy bars or the regular size ones (I used the mini's for the flower pot, and the reg. sizes for the cake/box), its just what ever tickles your taste buds!

I then start inserting my candy skewers into the floral foam...you may have to break the skewers to get the different types of heights...I did however mirror the front arrangement to match the back side so you would not be able to see the duct tape!!!

To make the curly Q skewers I just peeled the sticky label from the curly Q ribbons and rolled them onto the skewers, using a little duct tape to secure it so it wouldn't slide you could use clear scotch tape as well.

I then stuck them in the middle...

And your done!!!

Hello everyone. Well it's quite late here, however I have been reading this wonderful blog (Zachary Michael....hmm, with a roll of toilet paper in hand. This lovely lady Courtney De Yager who I found while reading an article in Baby Talk magazine (the magazine never showed up until after the loss of my baby. Go figure!). Any way this article is about Moms Who Rock! And believe me Miss Courtney De Yager is defiantly that in my book! Hello all...
I know it has been sometime since we have last spoke....
I wanted to do a quick post to let you all know about a precious gift....her name was Katherine Grace Bloomer....We called her Gracie.
On Sunday March the 6th of 2011 at 8:07 our daughter Gracie was stillborn...she was our beautiful little angel. She had a little heart-shaped face with her daddy's nose and mouth. Her mommy's hands, and her daddy's toes... and a head full of dark brown hair.
She truly was a gift from God, and I am so thankful for every moment that God allowed me with her!!!
I know all things happen for a reason. I put my faith and trust in God...for there is no panic in Heaven just plans and my God is in control.

Hey everyone! Well to put it sweetly, I am tired!!!!! I know I have not been on top of my game lately....I have missed a whole week here in blogland, and to be honest I have not even read the first post of any of my dear followers. I must apologize...I want be mad if no one leaves me a comment...I would completely understand! I think this last trimester is going to kick my butt!

This week I got my hubby busy....we have not even started at the baby's room. AH! It was a mess we had been using this room as storage....so you can image! The hubby bought us a storage barn awhile back and it's feeling up fast....we are down sizing next week! CAN YOU SAY GOODWILL!!

Ok so here is the verdict....pink carpet, your outta here!

I really wanted a nice table lamp...

We found this one @ TJ Max for $39.99...thought we hit the jackpot...then found one at Kmart with no lampshade for $14.00 . This one just had a little more bling Hey I could go back and get the one from Pier One it was a 159.00!

Oh and don't be mad all my kindred prims, but.... we are going modern for the baby's room and BLUE?????

Ok so I am really not 100% sure on the colors: Blue, brown, beige, green, and white....will see!

By the way I really found this really nice chair for 20.00. I didn't buy it, I didn't have the truck...so if it is still there next week...I guess it's just meant to be!!!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Hello peeps...Awh, how nice to have a much needed 3 day weekend! Just in time to do some projects too...speaking of projects, I finished this one up today! I really liked this little bench to begin with (I love Noah's ark theme!) but, it just didn't match my prim decor...plus it was looking a little worn out. I'm not complaining...it took some time to distress "THE NEW LOOK", lol! I also only own one stencil...it has fruit and this little number on it. So I tried my hand at it. (I think I like stenciling) and with that said I want to give a very big thank you to Michelle and Lorna for suggesting the Folk Art From The Harbor . (They really do have some nice stencils and are priced just right...yes! A win, win!) http://www.folkartfromtheharbor.com/catalog.php?page=4&category=69. I can't wait to get my new stencils!! I wish you could really see this re-do piece. The camera/lighting, really doesn't do it justice..boo! I have done a few re-dos in my day...but I have to say so far this has been one of my favorite "before and afters" Oh well maybe if you click on the picture to make it bigger you will be able to see better. I think it turned out very prim! I hope you like it....

Remember yesterday when I told you all I had some other items that I got at the GW Boutique...well here they are! I think it's time for a re-do or two!

The black drawer/cubby I paid $9.00 for it and Pat at work asked me if I would trade with her. We bought her a white one for her B-day last year and now she wants to go black...I told her that was fine. I just wanted to show you guys first! The little stool and basket was only $5.00 for both! And the 2 stars, well they were a little on the high side. I am going to attach them to a piece of wood, (which by the way I am getting free, from my good friends at the local hardwood store...Thanks Bill and Brent, you guys ROCK!) paint it, then hopefully add a few words to it...if I can find some kind of stencil!

Also I loved all my comments from my shelf post...and it seemed like the most asked question was "where you gonna put it?". Well to be honest...I don't know! I start projects like this to have something to paint and craft with, but when I get finished with it...I never know what to do with them! LOL!

If I can't find a place for these items...I really need to find them a good home! Know a good buyer? That's it! I have a obsession, I love turning a hot mess... into a prim creation!

Hey my fellow kindred! I have been so busy here lately...I wish there were more hours in a day! Whew...I love reading and commenting on every ones blogs, but for some reason I just seem to be moving back wards instead of for wards! So believe me when I get a chance I'll have to play catch up! I did however go thrifting (oh wait...Jackie one of the bank gals calls it, The G W Boutique) on my lunch break today, and hit the jackpot! I found so many cute prim pieces...ok not all prim, but with a little imagination, they would be primtastic!

Well I wish I could take credit for these two creations, but I can't! I don't know if these pictures are copyright... but if they are, I will be glad to remove them! However, I must say that if you are the creator of these fine treasures I want you to know...they are adorable!!

As everyone knows Misi was having a Valentine chain and I wanted to be part of the action... but the truth is I just took all my Christmas stuff down Uhmm...yesterday! Yeah, I thought it would be all packed up this weekend...but where I did some thrifting this year and got some really good deals. I had to much stuff, and not enough totes to put them away in! Oops! So I had to make a little trip to the dollar store during my lunch hour at work.

Also ~~we,~~ I mean I, got snowed in this weekend and was given strict orders that I was not allowed to leave the house...period! My husband said that he has seen my driving, and that Iwouldn't make it 5 feet in that mess outside (the snow & ice) before I would end up in a ditch some where!

He had drill this weekend so...I spent all my time well on the computer looking at blogs and dreaming of ideas! And that's when I ran across those adorable crafts!

I hope to put my Valentine's day decor up real soon, and then I'll post a few pic's... but till then I have enjoyed admiring every ones pretty things, out their in blogland...Thanks Misi for such a great idea, I believe it worked! I got lots of inspiration looking at y'alls V-day decorations!

Ok where to begin...OHH! I know PENNY RUG! I have wanted to learn how to make one of these for a year now and I just got tired of not knowing how and YouTube it...Nothing! So after sight, after sight. And blog after blog I found a video...I need video. I am a show me kinda of gal, and then show me again...and again...ok NOW let me have a crack at it! I was so excited...I was jumping, screaming...Lord I was ready to shout HALLELUJAH! Noah who was on the couch...just started laughing at me when he saw me start shaking my BOOTY and doing my little "I did it" cheer! Thank you all for your prayers and wonderful comments...we were told our baby is doing really good, and is weighing in around 1 pound and 13 ounces!
